Starting Treatment

All orthodontic treatment begins with records. We will capture a 3D image of your teeth and surrounding structures at your initial visit. At the records appointment we will take a series of photos of your teeth and bite and take impressions. This appointment will take approximately 60 minutes.

Braces

If you are getting braces, our in-house laboratory will use your impressions to create a stone cast of your teeth. Dr. Flanary will place each of the brackets directly on the cast and then our laboratory will make a custom tray for your bonding appointment. When you come in for your bonding appointment, our assistants will bond the brackets and put in the first set of gentle arch wires. Once everything is on, Dr. Flanary will check to ensure all of the brackets and wires are in the optimal positions. Our assistants will provide you with a welcome kit and will teach you how to care for your braces. They can also help you schedule your next appointment. The bonding appointment takes approximately 90 minutes.

Invisalign

If you are getting Invisalign, a special set of your impressions will be sent to an Invisalign laboratory. There, the impressions of your teeth will be digitized in order for Dr. Flanary to work with a computerized 3-D image of your teeth. Then, Dr. Flanary will plan your tooth movements throughout your treatment timeline. You'll be able to see a virtual representation of your teeth before, during, and after completion of the Invisalign process so you can see what your smile should look like when you're done with treatment! Based on Dr. Flanary’s treatment plan, customized aligners are created with advanced Invisalign technology for you to wear at each stage of your treatment. Once your aligners are sent to our office, we will schedule you for a delivery appointment and get you started! The first aligner delivery appointment takes approximately 20 minutes.
